The AIM Group, the master franchise of Iceland supermarkets in Ireland, announced the creation of over 200 new jobs and the further investment of €3 million into the retail chain in Ireland. The official announcement was made on 10 November at the opening of Iceland’s new 8,000 sq ft Coolock store in Greencastle Parade. The announcement will see the immediate creation of 40 new jobs for the locality. Iceland will open four stores across the country in Dublin, Tipperary, Meath and Carlow throughout November. Further store openings will be announced in the first quarter of 2012.
Commenting on the announcement, chief executive, Tom Keogh said: “Our plans are very much on track since our initial announcement 12 months ago. Today, we are thrilled to be in a position to open our newest store in Coolock, which fits very neatly in our strategic pathway for the roll out of Iceland stores across Ireland in 2011 and 2012. Our programme of expansion will see us announcing further store openings throughout the month of November.
“Today’s announcement will see us commit to €3m in terms of store leases, fit outs and the creation of over 200 jobs. These jobs have been created directly from the immediate area where each store is located. The remaining jobs have been created at our new distribution centre and operation’s base situated in Greenogue Business Park in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin.”
