Heineken has announced that chief executive officer Dolf van den Brink will step down from his role in 2026, marking the end of a period characterised by significant transformation and volatility in the global beer market.
Van den Brink has led the Dutch brewing giant since 2020, steering the business through the disruption of the pandemic, ongoing political uncertainty, inflationary pressures and shifting consumer demand.
Progression under van den Brink
During his tenure, Heineken accelerated its strategy, expanded its non-alcoholic portfolio, and progressed its EverGreen growth strategy, aimed at delivering sustainable, long-term value.
The company said a formal succession process is underway, with further details on timing and leadership transition to be confirmed in due course.
Van den Brink will continue to support the business during the transition period to ensure continuity and stability.
Heineken’s supervisory board paid tribute to his leadership, highlighting his role in strengthening the group’s strategic focus, resilience and global performance during a challenging period for the drinks industry.
The announcement comes at a time when brewers worldwide are navigating rising costs, evolving consumption trends and increased regulatory scrutiny, underlining the importance of stable leadership as Heineken enters its next phase.
