Irish wine distributor Gilbeys with Bibendum is rebranding under the new banner of ‘Bibendum Ireland’.

The rebrand comes after Gilbeys partnered with leading UK drinks distributor, Bibendum in March 2019 as part of the C&C Group’s ownership.

In a press statement, the group described the partnership as “combin[ing] the very best of Bibendum’s premium and artisanal wines with the established Gilbeys wine brands”. It added that the partnership “led to a series of successful wine tastings hosted around the Republic, new account wins and an increase in wine sales YOY”.

The time is right to transition fully to ‘Bibendum Ireland’,” said sales director Duncan Millar comments. “Our customers are now clear about our proposition and what value and choice we can bring to the market,” he added. “We are really excited about this change and it reflects our ambition for the business to grow and flourish over the coming years.”

Michael Saunders, CEO of Bibendum Wine, said of the move; “The Gilbeys name is renowned in Ireland, but after over a year of a successful introduction of Bibendum’s range and approach, we’re delighted that we can use the Bibendum name to reflect how the business has changed and evolved.”

Millar also confirmed that customers and suppliers have received communication of the rebrand and predicted only minimal administrative changes.
