Freshly Chopped, the wildly successful fast food retailer selling a range of salads and wraps, has entered into a 'strategic partnership' with BWG that will see the retailer enter selected convenience stores, forecourts and supermarkets across Ireland.

Healthy fast food retailer Freshly Chopped has announced a strategic partnership with convenience store operator BWG Group in a distribution and supply deal worth around €5.5m annually.

The partnership will see BWG Group become Freshly Chopped’s exclusive distributor and supplier, through its BWG Foodservice division. As part of the deal, BWG will also offer Freshly Chopped outlets to its network of approximately 800 Spar, Spar Express, Eurospar, Mace and Londis stores. Initially, three new Freshly Chopped outlets will open as part of the partnership in Dublin city creating 45 jobs.

“We’re very excited by this partnership and we’re looking forward to supporting Brian and his team in rolling out Freshly Chopped to our nationwide network of stores,” says Leo Crawford, CEO of BWG Group. “Our retail brands are in pursuit of a truly multi-service offering. The introduction of this new healthy food concept further illustrates our unique customer proposition.

Brian Lee, co-founder and managing director of Chopped says that when it was established in 2012, Chopped had a mission to make it easier for Irish consumers to well on the go. “This partnership with BWG will help us to continue on that journey of bringing healthy fast food to more people across Ireland,” says Lee. “We’re confident that we have the perfect partner, and we look forward to seeing new Freshly Chopped outlets open across the BWG network over the coming months and years.”
