The 2021 FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland are open to entry, until close of business, Tuesday, 6 July, with judging commencing in August.

The FreeFrom Food Awards are Ireland’s only awards dedicated to the free from sector and are open to entrants from across the 32 counties. These awards not only encourage the ongoing growth and innovation in the sector, but also demonstrate the quality in this area, which is a huge bonus for those consumers who must shop in the free from aisles.

“Restrictions allowing, we are looking forward to our usual live judging sessions, all fully socially distanced, this August,” said John Burke, founder of the FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland. “This is our sixth year and we are excited to see new products come before our ever discerning judges. The market continues to grow and to innovate and this is always tangible when you see what’s on the table come judging day.”

Judges are assembled from various backgrounds, from chefs to consumers, to dietitians to parents of free from children.

“We’re very proud to have such loyal and well-seasoned judges who give great consideration to what should win each category,” he added.

Debates are often passionate with different free from aspects taken into account. The technical difficulty of creating a free from product is taken into account, along with taste, quality and innovation. This ensures that consumers have guidance as to what is the best on the shelf in the free from aisles.
