Dunnes Stores Simply Better is set to sponsor the Small Producer of the Year award as part of this year’s Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards – open to food producers and manufacturers across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The accolades, now in their fourth year, set out to recognise excellence in food and drink product development from a wide variety of companies selling to Irish consumers.
Once again, the judging will take place over four weeks in June and July at the Dublin Institute of Technology’s School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology. The results will be announced at a gala dinner in the Round Room at Dublin’s Mansion House in Dublin on 8 September 2016.
A team from Dunnes Stores Simply Better range and a guest celebrity judge will sample all the shortlisted small producer products and choose a winner based on the best in quality, taste, aroma, price point, innovation, packaging and ingredients.
In addition to the award, the overall winner will receive an opportunity to work directly with the Simply Better Development & Buying team and they will also receive marketing support to help launch their brand with Dunnes Stores.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Diarmuid Murphy of Dunnes Stores said: “The development of our national and international award-winning Simply Better food collection has taken us on a tour around Ireland and further afield to meet and work with passionate food producers, quite often several generations of the one family. Supporting these small producers is very much part of the ethos of the Simply Better brand.”
The Irish Quality Food Awards, organised by Metropolis Business Media, are once again headline sponsored by Graphic Packaging International. The awards are also sponsored by the Coeliac Society of Ireland, who will play an important role during the stringent judging process of the ‘Free From’ categories, Dairymaid, Invest Northern Ireland and Sacla.
