Circle K has launched its partnership with Ionity, which will provide high-powered e-vehicle charging across Circle K’s entire store network. The first EV charging station was unveiled at an event in the newly-opened Circle K Gorey in Co. Wexford – the fuel provider’s largest site worldwide.

The Ionity high-powered charger has also been installed in Circle K Cashel in Tipperary with four more Ionity high-powered charging stations set to be introduced over the next few months at key strategic motorway locations at Circle K Athlone on the M6, Circle K Kill South on the M7, Circle K Kill North on the N7, and Circle K City North on the M1. All charge stations will feature up to six high speed EV charge points, each with an exceptional 350kW of charging capacity.

Incoming Circle K Ireland managing director Gordon Lawlor said the forecourt giant is delighted to introduce Ireland’s very first high-powered high-speed electric vehicle chargers.

“As we all come together in a concerted effort to tackle climate change and reduce our carbon emissions, there will be an increased demand for access to convenient fast charging points across the country,” said Lawlor. “In line with our ambition to make our customers’ lives a little easier every day, Circle K has already started on its journey to meet this demand and we want to play our role in facilitating a smooth transition to electric vehicle usage.

“This has been a key area of focus for Circle K in recent years and will remain a key priority in the years ahead,” Lawlor added.
