BWG Foods, one of Ireland’s leading wholesale and retail groups, has been named as the country’s Best Freight and Logistics Provider and will now go on to represent Ireland at the prestigious European Logistics Association (ELA) Awards in Paris this December.

BWG Foods, owner and operator of the Spar, Eurospar, Londis, Mace and XL brands, was awarded the top prize at The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Mobility and Supply Chain Awards 2023, which took place in Dublin on Friday night.

BWG Foods was recognised for its exceptional performance in managing freight, warehousing, and distribution along with its outstanding customer service, innovative solutions, and commitment to sustainability. The award highlights the importance of efficient and effective freight management in today’s global marketplace.

BWG Foods’ award-winning logistics division is amongst the largest in the country with operations in 25 locations with collective distribution space of over 1,000,000 sq ft and 280 vehicles in operation. The division supplies over 1,000 stores nationwide which together serve over one million people per day, along with a further 14,000 additional professional customers across the retail, foodservice and licensed sectors.

Speaking about the award, Joanne Mellon, logistics director, BWG Foods said: “We are delighted to receive this award and it is a welcome recognition of the expertise, experience and shared effort across the entire logistics division at BWG Foods.
