Britvic Ireland revenues down 5.2% on 1% volume increase
Revenues at Britvic Ireland were down 5.2% (at a constant exchange rate) from €83 million (£67.2m) to €79 million (£64.2m) in the six months to April 13th 2014 despite a 0.8% increase in volume sales “as the consumer environment remained difficult” according to Britvic’s interim results, published recently.

“Market conditions in Ireland have remained difficult with consumers continuing to seek value amid a competitive trading environment,” the company stated, “Modest volume growth has been outweighed by the impact of promotional activity and channel mix. In carbonates the market has been particularly competitive.
“We have gained a small amount of value share with a small volume share loss in the take-home channel. The licensed wholesale business was successfully launched as a standalone business under the Counterpoint brand in the first quarter of the year. With a management team, systems and processes in place, it is well-positioned for the future.”
Total revenues for Britvic plc amounted to £670.7 million, up 4.7% from £639.2 million for the same six-month period in 2013.
At £45.3 million, pre-tax profits at the company were nearly 21% up on the same half-year period the previous year.
