Waterford hurling star Shane Bennett lined-out for Aldi recently to reopen its Ashe Road Waterford store. The revamped store was unveiled on Thursday, 26 May, following an extensive renovation project which saw the store extended and completely refurbished.

The shop floor size has been increased by almost 30% to 1,276m², while the number of car parking spaces available has increased to 122. The expansion includes the addition of a new shopping aisle, providing locals with an improved display. The newly refurbished store also now features increased chilled space for a larger range of fresh meat, dairy and fresh fruit and vegetables.

Aldi first opened its Ashe Road store in June 2011 and in total, the group now has 124 stores in the Republic of Ireland. Stuart Brown manages the revamped Ashe Road store.

In full-on celebration mode, the opening day was filled with family fun and festivities, with Beat 102-103’s Beat Fleet providing face painting, balloon modelling, music and games for the kids.  Five lucky Aldi shoppers also scooped €100 each in Aldi shopping vouchers.
