Aldi’s nationwide expansion continues apace, with the opening of a new flagship “Project Fresh” store at Royal Canal Park in the heart of Dublin.

Creating 20 new jobs, the new store will be Aldi’s 21st in Dublin and 138th nationwide, following the recent opening of Aldi Blackrock in the new-look Frascati centre. The investment will continue later this year with the opening of a new store in Swords.

The new store boasts a large shop floor spanning 1,118m², 75 free car parking spaces, wide aisles and hi-spec fixtures and fittings in line with the supermarket’s award-winning Project Fresh identity. The retailer is spending €60m to upgrade the layout of all its stores nationwide, while also building 20 new stores.

Aldi Royal Canal Park will be powered by 100% green electricity, after the group became the second retailer in Ireland to achieve ISO 50001 accreditation in recognition of its efforts to improve energy efficiencies.

Speaking at the store opening, Kart Paalma, store manager of Aldi’s new Royal Canal Park store said the opening of Aldi Royal Canal Park is great news for local shoppers as “we have the best grocery prices in Ireland”.

Aldi also recently increased its support for small Irish suppliers by reducing its payment terms to 14 days for suppliers that transact up to €300k annually with Aldi.  Aldi will sell over €700 million worth of Irish goods this year, sourced from Irish producers, manufacturers and suppliers across the country.
