Buymie launches same-day grocery delivery service in Galway and Limerick
Sixty personal shoppers to be hired to service 190k residents across both cities and suburbs

Grocery delivery provider Buymie, began offering grocery deliveries and full personal shopping services to over 190,000 Galway and Limerick residents earlier this week.
Both Galway and Limerick customers will now be able to use the Buymie app to shop online for a range of over 35,000 groceries from local partnering stores, Dunnes Stores and Lidl, as well as Tesco, and can expect to receive the grocery delivery in as little as an hour or choose a selected date and time.
The Buymie grocery delivery service has already proved a hit with time-poor customers in Dublin, Cork and Bristol and is currently in the process of creating 60 personal shopping roles to service Galway and Limerick in response to demand for same-day grocery delivery. Buymie’s same-day grocery delivery is currently available to all households in Dublin and large commuter towns such as Greystones, Maynooth and Howth. The service is also available across Cork’s City and suburbs.
In May 2020, buymie partnered with UK’s Co-op and launched the same-day delivery service to over 250,000 households across Bristol and its surrounding suburban area. Since launching in 2016, the Buymie grocery delivery service has been used by one in 10 households across Dublin.
With over 35,000 product options now available on its app, Buymie is the market leader in same-day grocery delivery in Ireland. In 2018, the company became the first independent e-commerce platform in Europe to launch the discount channel online through a strategic partnership with Lidl.
Buymie has seen impressive grwoth during the pandemic, growing by over 500% year on year between January 2020 to January 2021. In June 2020, buymie closed a Series A funding round of €5.8 million in new investments into its business, to take its total capital raised to €10.5 million.
