There are just three weeks to go until Taste of Dublin, one of the most anticipated events on the festival calendar, returns to Iveagh Gardens in the heart of the city. Several Irish restaurants are set to make their Taste debut at the event, and excitement is building about what they’re going to have on offer.

Dublin’s food scene has never been more vibrant, with pop-ups, residencies and food trucks serving innovative dishes that fuse Irish and international cuisine. The resulting dishes prove bricks and mortar aren’t the only thing contributing to a great dining experience. Withi that in mind, the theme at this year’s Taste of Dublin is Vive La Révolution.

Every day at Taste, two new restaurants will be popping up in the Daily Special slot, offering visitors an opportunity to try something new and different.

Some of the pop-ups in the Daily Special will include:

Grálinn, a mashup of the Irish words loosely translating as ‘love together’, is the work of Dee Kelly and Matteo Griscti. Usually, their delicious small plates can be found at their residency at MVP in Dublin and at their exclusive supper clubs at Elmhurst Urban Farm in Glasnevin. This summer they are taking to the road in their new food truck and Taste is one of the first stops on their festival circuit.

Vietnom is usually based at the Glimmerman pub in Stoneybatter, and is a food truck putting flavour to the fore by combining Vietnamese flavours with Irish ingredients – with a hint of Mexican. “It’s fusion, but not as you know it,” according to the owners.

Bowls by Kwanghi is the brainchild of Kwanghi Chan, who is a frequent TV chef and also the proprietor of Chan Chan range of sauces and condiments which includes the quintessentially Irish “Spice Bag” seasoning. The Donegal chef will be bringing a sample of what’s on offer in his casual Asian restaurant to Taste this year and we can’t wait.

Lil Portie Caribbean Kitchen at Taste for the first time, with some of the dishes that made Lil Portie such a destination during its residency at 250 Square in Rathmines over the past year. Expect all manner of tantalising Caribbean deliciousness but be warned…it is hot hot hot!

Jaru’s is amongst the most authentic Korean food available in Ireland, found at lunchtime markets around Dublin. This is the real deal, full of explosive flavours combinations. The kimchi comes highly recommended.

Shaka Poke started out in Blackrock market and now has a second branch in the Stephen’s Green shopping centre. This super-fresh signature Hawaiian-style offering will be at Taste for the first time this year, with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians.

Finally, the festival is welcoming back Chef Adrian Martin in a new concept restaurant collaboration with Manor Farm Chicken, Adrian’s Manor. Martin ’s infectious enthusiasm for all things chicken will leave visitors full of ideas to reinvigorate their own cooking at home.

See you at Taste of Dublin!
