Centra representatives honoured at awards
The fourth annual Pride of Centra Awards ceremony have taken place in the Cliff at Lyons in Co. Kildare, where Centra personnel from across the country were honoured for their passion and commitment in the workplace for 2017.

Fiona Reilly, store manager of Centra Belturbet, Co. Cavan took home top honours and was named the Overall Pride of Centra Award Winner 2017 at the fourth annual Pride of Centra Awards.
Presented by broadcaster Sybil Mulcahy, the Pride of Centra Awards were established by the company to acknowledge staff who demonstrate “passion and enthusiasm” in Centra stores. With 11,000 Centra employees across the country, competition among finalists is fierce.
Des O’Mahony, interim marketing director at Centra said the awards were recognise the representatives who embody the Centra brand values in stores across Ireland. “The Pride of Centra Awards 2017 showcase the exemplary work undertaken by Centra staff members,” O’Mahony says, “who go above and beyond to ensure outstanding customer service.
“Our staff are at the heart of everything we do,” he adds, “and most importantly they are firmly cemented in each of their local communities where they make positive impact through their work.”
Winners on the day included:
- Pride of Centra Overall Winner and Store Manager category winner – Fiona Reilly from Centra Belturbet, Co. Cavan
- Pride of Centra Employee Award – Tina Purcell from Centra Clarina, Co. Limerick
- Pride of Centra Department Manager Award – Graciely Pereira from Centra Capel Street, Dublin
- Pride of Centra Outstanding Contribution Award – Breda Cahill from Centra Ballinteer, Dublin
“Fiona is a truly inspirational leader,” said awards judge Eddie O’Connell, “driven to succeed and strives to motivate her staff, her customers and the local community.
“Fiona stepped up as store manager in a store facing many challenges,” O’Connell continues. “She always aims for the highest store standards with a strong involvement in the local community. Her focus included developing and upskilling staff, local community support, developing customer loyalty programmes, hosting regular in-store events and encouraging staff involvement in local events.
“Fiona also developed the ‘Love Belturbet – Community Spirit Lives’ campaign which demonstrated her commitment and passion not just to the Centra brand, but the community in which it operates. She is a truly deserving winner.”
54 finalists attended on the day and represented 17 counties; Dublin, Cork, Sligo, Waterford, Wicklow, Donegal, Galway, Clare, Cavan, Limerick, Mayo, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Kerry, Carlow and Wexford. All shortlisted candidates were recognised for their ongoing commitment to their work with community initiatives, exceptional customer service and engaging activities in-store.
