Reports have emerged that the Barry Group is in talks to take on Galvins’ Carry Out franchise, which attaches to a network of 52 off-licences. According to industry sources, the deal is likely to be concluded, making the Mallow-based wholesaler the sole partner of the off-licence chain.

On Wednesday (2 December), Barry & Fitzwilliam and Comans pulled out of their joint rescue bid for Carry Out, deciding that they did not want to pursue it. B&F is understood to have been among a number of parties interested in acquiring the entire Galvins Wholesale Ltd operation and had appointed Deloitte to carry out due diligence. Michael Barry later announced however, “We have now decided not to go forward with our plans”.
