Five of the newly listed pubs are in RoI:

  •     Tavern (Murrisk)
  •     Fallon’s (Kilcullen)

  •     Morrissey’s (Doonbeg).

Three pubs received ‘Inspector’s Favourite’ listings:

  •     Wild Honey Inn (Lisdoonvarna)
  •     Deasy’s (Clonakilty)
  •     Toddy’s at The Bulman (Kinsale).

In NI, all the successful listings are from County Down:

  •     Lisbarnett House (Comber)
  •     Grace Neill’s (Donaghadee)

Lisbarnett House is the only new NI listing while Grace Neill’s secured an ‘Inspector’s Favourite’ commendation.

Overall, pub listings were allocated as follows: Down (7), Cork (6), Clare (4), Mayo (3), Galway, Kerry and Kildare (2 each) followed by one each from Dublin, Leitrim, Louth, Sligo, Tipperary, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.

This year’s Guide recommends a total of 577 pubs spread across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland of which 70 are new entries and all of which are selected, first and foremost, for the quality of their food.

Noting that no one has to put up with bad food in a pub any more, the Guide’s editor Rebecca Burr said that all pubs listed in the Guide have been “rigorously inspected” by a team of full-time inspectors – the same team that produces the famed Michelin Great Britain & Ireland Restaurant Guide.

The Michelin Eating Out In Pubs Guide 2014 is now available in bookshops and online priced at €14.99.
