Winners of SuperValu Off-Licence of the Year announced

Four SuperValu stores were named as overall winners at the recent Edward Dillon & Santa Rita Estates SuperValu Off-Licence of the Year Awards, which took place at the Galway Bay Hotel.

The 26th annual Edward Dillon & Santa Rita Estates SuperValu Off Licence of the Year Awards took place on Thursday November 29 at the Galway Bay Hotel. The gala event was hosted by RTÉ’s Shay Byrne.

The event was attended by finalists from across the country and the four overall winners were:

  • Overall Winner SuperValu Off Licence of the Year: Garvey’s SuperValu Dingle
  • Winner Large Store SuperValu Off Licence of the Year: Ryan’s SuperValu Glanmire
  • Winner Medium Store SuperValu Off Licence of the Year: Quish’s SuperValu Tramore
  • Winner Small Store SuperValu Off Licence of the Year: Pettitt’s SuperValu The Quay, Wexford

Tomas Garvey, Jim Garvey, Cliona Ekren and Kevin O’Connor were there on the night to represent Garvey’s SuperValu Dingle; Liam Ryan and Lillian Twomey represented Ryan’s SuperValu Glanmire; Niall Shanaghy, Colm O’Carroll and Shane Hunt represented Quish’s SuperValu Tramore; and Matthew Foley and Mary Roche attended for Pettitt’s SuperValu The Quay Wexford.

Each of the winners were presented with their awards by Andy O’Hara, CEO of Edward Dillon, Donagh McClafferty, Category Manager at Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland and Tom Gaskin, Santa Rita Estates. The finalist stores were judged by Rodney Trenwith and were marked on a range of criteria including overall appearance, innovation and customer service.

The winners of the Edward Dillon & Santa Rita Estates Super Valu Off Licence of the Year Awards will enjoy an exclusive trip to Cape Town, South Africa as part of the prize.

Speaking at the event, Andy O’Hara, CEO of Edward Dillon said that each year the standard of the stores gets higher and higher. “We would like to thank and congratulate all the four winning stores,” O’Hara said, “and also to each of the finalist stores who took part in the competition.”
