Wexford County Council will soon be publishing its new bye-laws for waste management which will outlaw the presentation of waste in plastic refuse sacks, making it necessary to manage waste from now on in bins. Following the move, waste management company Greenstar has said it will be providing “valued bag clients” with free wheelie bins.

In addition, EPOS product provider PostPoint has announced it is teaming up with Greenstar to provide a new method for the collection of waste charges in Wexford PostPoint outlets. Greenstar is offering PostPoint retailers €5 for every valid customer that registers for its new Refuse & Recycling Payment Card Service (rebated at the end of June 2009).

“By offering a new electronic prepayment solution to allow bag customers to buy credit for Refuse & Recycling bin lifts, retailers will benefit from a great revenue opportunity. Also, PostPoint retailers will not have to stock bags in the future so it will assist in not having to manage stock or deal with any shrinkage,” PostPoint stated.
