Rumours to the effect that the company is considering a move to Ireland have yet to be confirmed but questions put to the company by Drinks Industry Ireland as to whether JD Wetherspoon is considering the purchase of ‘tonic’ in Blackrock, South County Dublin, were not denied outright.

In a communication to Drinks Industry Ireland the company stated, “Wetherspoon is aware of the premises. It is one of a few that the company is looking at and considering as a possible site”.

The increase in income from food-based operations in Irish pubs is thought to be attracting British pub groups due to their operational efficiencies in this aspect of running a pub.
