Indian food brand VadaPow recorded a successful performance at the recent FreeFrom Food Awards 2020, scooping a Gold title for its Croquette Tikka Masala and Silver for its Mumbai Potato Pie.

“Vada Pow’s range really impressed our judges, being loaded with herbs and spices with an authentic Indian taste,” said John Burke, founder of FreeFrom Food Awards Ireland.

‘The products are wheat-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan, so they ticked a lot of boxes across the free from arena,” he added.

The FreeFrom Food Awards are Ireland’s only awards dedicated to the freefrom sector and are open to entrants from across the 32 counties.

These awards not only encourage the ongoing growth and innovation in the sector, but also demonstrate the quality in this area, which is a huge bonus for those consumers who must shop in the free from aisles.

Over 500 entries were judged both before and after lockdown, with fully socially distanced panel sessions completing the process in July 2020. The awards were announced over zoom last October but due to the ongoing covid pandemic, it is only this month that the certificates are finally being presented in person to winners around the country.

“Congratulations to Vada Pow for this win,” said John Burke. “As with all our judging panels, debates are often passionate with different free from aspects taken into account. Every award is hard won and we are delighted to finally be able to get these awards to winners, after a long wait. Vada Pow’s products were very deserving of their Silver and Gold.”
