Two lucky Spar shoppers jet to Los Angeles

Frances Canning from Graiguenamanagh in Co Kilkenny and her mother, Christina Canning, jetted off last week to Los Angeles for an all-expenses four-night stay in the famous City of Angels, courtesy of Spar Ireland.

To celebrate the sponsorship of Donal Skehan’s recent RTE Series, Donal’s Super Food In Minutes, Spar asked viewers to guess the secret ingredient on Donal’s tasty BBQ spare ribs. Frances was one of just 11 people who correctly guessed that the hidden ingredient was espresso and won the trip for two to LA.

The competition was a massive success and generated strong exposure for Spar. The social media competition reached an audience of over 1 million, with almost 78,000 people clicking into the launch video that aired on YouTube at the start of the campaign. 95% of views were on mobile phones reaffirming current trends in the growth of mobile as a key media channel.

Frances and Christina jetted off to Los Angeles in February for four nights where they spent a day with Donal checking out lots of foodie hotspots in the City of Angels. Also a mecca for shopping, the lucky winners received €1000 spending money to make this the trip of a lifetime.
