From Galway’s iconic market to Wicklow’s enchanting experiences, these festive gatherings offer something for everyone. Celebrate the holiday season with food, crafts, and family-friendly activities across the country.

1.) Belfast Christmas Market: 16 November – 22 December 

Celebrate 20 years of holiday cheer at Belfast’s Christmas Market outside City Hall, running from 16 November to 22 December. 

With a Dickensian theme, visitors can enjoy Victorian-inspired storytelling, unique artisan goods, delicious global treats, and Santa’s magical grotto – all set against the enchanting backdrop of iconic Dickens characters and lively performances.

2.) Dublin Castle Christmas Market: 28 November – 18 December

This December, Dublin Castle’s historic courtyard transforms into a festive wonderland with more than 30 traditional market stalls offering crafts, gifts, and artisan treats. 

With live music, a vintage carousel, and festive decorations throughout, “Christmas at the Castle” is a perfect stop for holiday cheer in the heart of Dublin.

3.) Galway Christmas Market: 8 November – 5 January 

This Christmas season, Galway sparkles with the return of its iconic Continental Christmas Market. Drawing more than 450,000 visitors last year, the market fills Eyre Square with 50 charming chalets, a grand carousel, Santa’s Grotto, a German Bier Keller, and countless festive delights.

4.) Kilkenny Christmas Market: 30 November – 22 December

Celebrate Christmas in Kilkenny at Yulefest, a festive celebration with events running from November to December. 

Highlights include local artisan food and crafts, Santa’s grand arrival on 30 November, live music, a Christmas tree festival, and a family-friendly light trail, making Kilkenny the perfect festive holiday destination for all ages.

5.) Wicklow Christmas Market: 23 November – 22 December

6.) Cork Christmas Market: 15 November – 30 December

Discover festive cheer at the Cork Christmas Market, also known as ‘Glow Cork’, on the Grand Parade in the heart of the city. With market stalls offering unique gifts, seasonal treats, live music, and special workshops, there’s something for everyone. 

Highlights include a Ferris Wheel, carousel, Santa’s Workshop, and themed nights with carolling and live music.

7.) Waterford Winterval: 15 November – 23 December

Experience the magic of Winterval, Ireland’s largest Christmas festival, as Waterford becomes a breathtaking Winter wonderland.
