Three Times journalists win at the UCD Smurfit School Business Journalist Awards

The Sunday Times and The Times, Ireland Edition recorded an impressive performance at the recent UCD Smurfit School Business Journalist Awards, with three journalists receiving accolades for their work

Three journalists from The Sunday Times and The Times, Ireland Edition were recognised recently at the UCD Smurfit School Business Journalist Awards.

Brian Carey, business editor of The Sunday Times, won the Economic Commentator/Business Analyst Award for a piece on foreign direct investment, NAMA and Independent News & Media. Impressively, this is the sixth time Brian has won the commentary prize since the awards began in 2007.

Meanwhile, Sunday Times journalist, Mark Tighe, was awarded Specialist Business Reporter of the Year for two submissions, one on Denis O’Brien with the second entitled ‘Judging the Judges’.

Peter O’Dwyer, senior business reporter with The Times, Ireland Edition was recognised as Upcoming Journalist of the Year.

Emer Gilvarry, chair, Business Journalist Awards Judging panel and chairperson, Mason Hayes & Curran and professor Mike O’Neill, associate dean and director, UCD Smurfit School, presented the awards.
