The Good Craft Brewery Guide launched at Festival
The first edition of The Good Craft Brewery Guide to Ireland was launched at the recent Irish Craft Beer & Cider Festival in the RDS, Dublin.
10 September 2013
A concise summary of Ireland’s emerging small scale brewing industry, it outlines the stories behind Ireland’s emerging craft brewers and details the styles and flavour characteristics of their beers.
Ireland currently has 24 craft breweries dotted around the island with another 15 or so in planning. The book aims to promote the efforts of the craft brewers and to bring their locally-produced beers to the attention of a wider public. The new brewers are making an important contribution to the re-emerging Irish economy.
The book’s author Tim O’Rourke has been brewing for over 40 years and is a Master Brewer and a Beer Sommelier. Currently he teaches technical brewing, offers consultancy around the world and has worked with the Irish brewers for many years. As research for the book, Tim undertook a tour of the whole of Ireland, visiting as many breweries as possible and tasting their beers.
The Guide was launched by Enda O’Coineen, Honorary President of Irish Pubs Global, the Association of owners and managers of Irish pubs abroad representing a network of over 4,000 pubs. IPG is also organizing the Irish Pubs Global Gathering in Dublin this 29th September – 1st October.
The Good Craft Brewery Guide can be purchased online at www.beerireland.ie for €10 plus p&p.
