Jim Burke officially opened the doors of his brand new Costcutter store in Cullies, Co. Cavan, on Saturday, 9 August, with Ireland’s champion ‘culchie’ Padraig Clinton and Cavan Rose Mairead Ling. The 2,400 sq ft Costcutter store (featured in ShelfLife June 2008) is of a standard to compete with any convenience store in the country and also houses an extensive seating/dining area. The store caters for all needs with fresh fruit and vegetables, coffee dock and an off-licence, as well as a serviced forecourt.

Jim, a well-known Lanesborough business man, also currently operates a Costcutter store in another location. He brings a wealth of experience to the business, having cut his teeth in the hospitality industry as hotel manager and later operating Enright’s service station on the Cavan Road. Speaking on the day, Jim said, “I am delighted to be cementing my relationship with one of the most progressive symbol groups in the country and look forward to building a strong relationship with customers, by offering a friendly, fast and efficient service.”

Mark McCumiskey, account manager for Barry Group, was also in attendance at the official opening and said: “Today’s opening is another example of the exceptional success that Costcutter has experienced in the past year and we look forward to continuing our strong track record of new store openings in the future. We’re delighted to see such a great reaction to the opening of the store in Cullies and look forward to building a strong relationship with Jim and his staff.”
