Irish whiskey and spirits producer, The Connacht Distillery, is expanding into the UK with the appointment of Spirit Cartel as its distributor for its whiskey brands in the UK market.

Spirit Cartel will be responsible for supplying Connacht Distillery’s award-winning Connacht Single Malt Irish Whiskeyand Ballyhoo Single Grain whiskies, targeting on and off-trades, including major supermarkets in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

Under the new agreement, the two whiskies will immediately be carried by iconic Corrigan’s Mayfair restaurant and all ten Pivovar Freehouses.

Established in 2015, the Connacht Distillery has found major success with its two whiskey brands. Launched last year, Connacht Single Malt Irish Whiskey is the first whiskey to be distilled in Co. Mayo in over 150 years.

The brands will be joining Spirit Cartel’s portfolio of premium spirit brands including Four Roses Bourbon, Westward Whiskey and Equiano Rum.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Spirit Cartel to bring our award winning whiskies to the UK,” said commercial director at the Connacht Distillery, Killian O’Sullivan.

“It has taken time to find the right distributor in what is a key Irish whiskey market, but the cultural fit with that we have with David and the Spirit Cartel team, as well as the incredible range of premium spirits which they already distribute in other categories, make this the natural move for Connacht Distillery,” he added.

“At Spirit Cartel, we only work with brands we believe in and The Connacht Distillery has made fantastic inroads in launching their two premium whiskies,” added David Hood, general manager of Spirit Cartel. “We look forward to this opportunity to work with a company that unites experts in their fields to drive innovation in Irish whiskey.”
