The new bar is the brainchild of lifelong friends David Kelly and Ciaran Sheehan, both from Dublin who together with American Jay Luther have spent the past 17 years building up the successful Rí Rá Group in the US, employing 500 people across 10 states. Now the business partners have set their sights on the Irish market with the launch of their first venture in the old Russell’s of Ranelagh building.

Currently, they have about six staff over in Ranelagh from the US. They already conduct a programme on an ongoing basis for Rí Rá whereby they bring Irish staff to work in their US outlets and now they’ve the opportunity to bring US staff to Ireland.

The Tap House has also introduced the ‘Tap House Growler’, a re-usable jug allowing customers to take home fresh craft beer on draught and packaged in an environmentally-friendly way. A range of house-infused spirits and intriguing cocktails has also been created using seasonal fruits and spices.

“When we began the search for a pub location in Dublin, Ranelagh stood out” commented David Kelly, “We wanted to create a new social experience for the well-travelled open-minded individual looking for a new experience and open to new tastes — and of course, most importantly, a good night out with friends.”

Also new at the Tap House are the ‘Keep it Fresh’ Beer Glasses.

David Kelly explained, “By offering our customers a 400 ml Standard Pour in a Munique glass, beer maintains its temperature and freshness to the last drop”.

And the Tap House food offering combines smaller plates with varied flavors giving customers the opportunity to enjoy more than just one offering. The Tap House is committed to sourcing as much produce as possible from the best local producers.

Materials used in the Tap House’s interior include reclaimed parquet woodblock flooring and salvaged brick and timber panelling. Homely book shelving combines with the atmospheric retro-lighting resulting in an almost hipster loft apartment feel.

The materials used are natural and earthy and include bespoke furniture and lighting, all fabricated in Ireland. Combined with the soft amber mood lighting, the style of Tap House bar and Kitchen is very influenced by the tradition and craft of the carefully-sourced non-mainstream beers and house-infused cocktails on offer.

The owners expect that the resultant interior design is an endearing, evocative space that will not only be appealing to the local demographic but will also draw discerning customers looking for a “craftier” design than the norm.

The Tap House Bar and Kitchen opens Monday to Thursday from 11.30 am till 11.30 pm, Friday & Saturday 11.30 am to 12.30 am and Sunday 12.30 pm -11.00 pm.
