ShelfLife has learned that a SuperValu store will take over the old Tesco site in the Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre.
Musgrave has confirmed that the store will be operated by Eddie Kane of the Kane McCarthy group and SuperValu.
Tesco announced that it was closing the store in May due to the presence of a much bigger store in the Bloomfields Shopping Centre a short distance away.

SuperValu will now be the anchor tenant in the shopping centre, which is owned by the Coltard family. The store is due to open at the end of November and the group is already recruiting locally for 70 staff.

Geoff Barry, newly appointed manager, SuperValu Dun Laoghaire; “The builders moved in last Monday and we plan to be open in lots of time for Christmas. We have great plans for the store and shoppers will be able to take advantage of the fresh food, value for money and excellent customer service that is synonymous with SuperValu.”

The store will host a butchery, a fresh food-to-go section, a bakery and a full off-licence.
The opening forms part of a €25 million expansion programme announced earlier this year by SuperValu, which will create 400 new jobs by the end of the year.

The Kane McCarthy Group has four stores in Dublin already – Raheny, Killester, Donabate and Talbot Street.
