Spar Ireland is set to continue its long term partnership with Donal Skehan after agreeing a new €275,000 package to sponsor RTE’s ‘Kitchen Hero’ programme hosted by the popular young cook, as well as his live tour later this year.

Returning to air on the 24 June, the theme of the upcoming season is ‘Rediscovering the Irish Kitchen’ which promises to revisit and revitalise some of the country’s classic dishes. The last series attracted more than 240,000 viewers per episode.

Marketing and communications director for Spar Ireland, Suzanne Weldon said: “We’re delighted to be entering into our fifth year of partnering with Donal Skehan who is a great ambassador for our brand. We’re particularly excited about the theme of this year’s programme because as an Irish brand supporting local suppliers, we’re keen to celebrate what’s great about Irish food and culture”.

Spar’s supporting marketing activity will include the production of stings, recipe cards, postcards and in-store merchandise. The integrated marketing campaign will also feature a strong social media element on Twitter and Facebook.

The series has been created by TV food and travel specialists, Inproduction; director David Hare also produces other leading cookery programmes.

Kitchen Hero will air until 5 August before returning in November this year for an additional run.
