Scotland is set to ban all price promotions on alcohol from 1st October as part of a range of measures designed to tackle alcohol abuse.

The ruling Scottish National Party in the Scottish Assembly has set its sights firmly on the introduction of a controversial minimum price law for alcohol, thought to be around 50 Pence a unit.

But the moves are likely to met with considerable resistance from the political opposition and trade bodies.
