Safefood appoints new scientific support manager

Dr. Aileen McGloin has been appointed scientific support manager with Safefood, as of February this year. She holds a First Class Honours Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Ulster and a PhD specialising in obesity in children. Dr. McGloin has held a number of roles in academia and in the food and communications industries. These include working as the nutritionist with the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland, nutrition manager with online weight loss company eDiets, lecturing on nutrition in Trinity College Dublin, and running her own nutrition consultancy business. Most recently, Dr. McGloin worked as a research fellow in University College Dublin’s School of Public Health and Population Science, where she specialised in food risk perception, communication and food behaviour.
