Roctel has announced a new ‘major’ partnership with Elavon, a leading global payments provider.

Together the tech businesses are set to ‘deliver a robust merchant services payment solution tailored for those in the SMB retail sector’.

Commenting on the partnership, Cormac Reid, director, Roctel, said: “This partnership represents a significant step forward for small businesses looking to thrive in an increasingly digital market.

“With Roctel’s expertise in connectivity and Elavon trusted payment solutions, Irish businesses can confidently embrace the cashless future, ensuring they remain ahead competitors Flexible payments plans and technology that grows with your business – and their customers.”

Cashless society

With 80% of transactions now cashless, Ireland is rapidly transitioning to a cashless society, the provider of internet connectivity and cybersecurity solutions highlighted.

This shift means retailers must adapt to meet customer expectations, it added.

However, many small businesses face critical challenges with inconsistent connectivity, leading to downtime in Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.

These interruptions ‘not only cause lost revenue but also risk damaging customer trust and loyalty’.

Beyond connectivity issues, the increasing reliance on cashless payments exposes businesses to heightened cybersecurity risks, Roctel explained.

Cyberattacks targeting payment systems and customer data are on the rise, with small businesses being particularly vulnerable due to limited resources to address these threats.

Connectivity for business stability

Roctel noted that its Rocsolid solution offers businesses ‘a powerful combination of internet connectivity and cybersecurity solution designed to ensure seamless operations, protect critical data, and thrive in an increasingly cashless and connected world’.

Meanwhile, Elavon ‘provides flexible and scalable payment solutions and a dependable payment platform to meet the evolving business needs of merchants throughout Ireland’.

By offering a range of payment options, from card processing to Pay By Link and recurring payments, Elavon helps businesses of all sizes stay in control, improve cash flow, and scale confidently, it said.

Eva Paredes SVP, head of SMB UK and Ireland, added: “Through this partnership with Roctel, we’re enabling businesses to offer secure, reliable payment options, helping them grow while keeping their customers happy.”
