Smooch crowns Spar Sharkey’s Tuam as Retailer of the Year
Smooch Ice Cream celebrates innovation and excellence nationwide as the 2025 Smooch Awards honour top-performing retailers

Smooch Ice Cream has crowned Spar Sharkey’s Tuam as Retailer of the Year at this years at this year’s Smooch Awards.
Sharkey’s Spar Tuam is trading for the last 14 years on Bishop Street in Tuam Co. Galway. Eugene and Dymphna Sharkey run a very busy Spar Convenience Store & Inver Forecourt employing 30 staff, the Ice cream brand noted.
The store is well known in the area for its excellent Deli offering, which also offers an outside catering option and has grown from strength to strength, it added.
The store has recently undergone a major revamp in early 2024 and as part of this revamp Eugene and Dymphna made the decision to include a Smooch Ice Cream parlour in the store.
They couldn’t believe how quickly their Ice Cream sales jumped and have maintained the momentum.
Being close to local schools and sports clubs, they could see a market for a strong ice cream offering and they’re delighted with how successful Smooch has been in their store.
Spar Sharkey’s Tuam noted that they are ‘deeply honoured’ to have been voted the Smooch Retailer of the year.
According to Smooch the retailer secured this award as ‘they are passionate about keeping the Smooch standard’s high and regularly retrain staff, ensuring a top-quality customer experience’.
