Last week, as a result of an intelligence-led operation and with the assistance of detector dog Milo, Revenue officers seized 4,715 kgs of rolling tobacco with an estimated value of €3,888,000 at Dublin Port.

Flandria

The illicit tobacco, branded ‘Flandria’, was discovered in a consignment within a trailer which had arrived from Zeebrugge, Belgium and represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €2,919,000.

Investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in the shadow economy. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
