Pre-tax profits up 7% at Gleeson Group

Turnover at The Gleeson Group rose 18.6 per cent to €261.58 million according to the accounts for the year to June 30th 2011 (up from €220.46 million the previous year) which produced a pre-tax profit of €5.31 million, up 6.9 per cent from 2010’s figure of €4.97 million.

Gleeson Group manufacturers and distributes mineral water including Tipperary Water, soft drinks such as Finches, cider including Devils Bit, cream liqueurs and freezepops as well as manufacturing bottles and containers for other companies. It also wholesales beers, wines and spirits for other companies.

The company, which bought Gilbeys Wines from Diageo Ireland last September, saw the cost of sales rise by 18.7 per cent, going from €181.4 million to €215.4 million.

Staff costs rose 10.5 per cent to €21.99 million as the company took on 86 new staff to reach the present complement of 739.
