Wexford Bus has become the first private commercial bus operator to partner with Payzone to officially adopt the Leap Card ticketing system.

The Leap Card is already well established as a convenient ticketing system with over 250,000 users to date operating on Luas, DART, Dublin Bus and Commuter Rail Services.

Wexford Bus offers a service between Wexford and Dublin city and airport. Passengers of the bus company can now use the travel credit on their Leap Card to pay for discounted single trips, or they can choose to load weekly tickets to their card.

As a key technology and retail delivery partner in the operation and administration of the Leap Card initiative, Payzone is primarily responsible for the provision and management of the smart card point-of sale network, so customers can buy smart cards, top them up, and buy a range of products in retail outlets.

Passengers of Wexford Bus can purchase and top up their Leap Card at more than 450 authorised Leap Card agents (Payzone branded outlets) across Dublin , online at and now at a number of Payzone outlets in Wexford, including Gwalia Stores in Gorey, The Bus Stop Shop in Enniscorthy and The Selskar Bookshop in Wexford town.

Jim Deignan, managing director, Payzone Ireland said: "This latest partnership for the Leap Card project with Wexford Bus in another significant milestone in the rollout of the service.  We are delighted that Payzone is playing such a central part in the operation of the initiative and it is great to see the extension of the service now reaching out to a number of our Payzone branded outlets in Wexford.  We look forward to continued expansion of the service and leveraging the reach of our retail payments network of 2,000 Payzone branded retail outlets located throughout the country."
