Patrick Thomas of Lost Society, South William Street, Dublin 2, was awarded the BAI title National Cocktail Champion 2011 at Catex 2011.

Pat will now compete at the World Cocktail Competition to be held in Warsaw, Poland, next October. He also won the Fancy Cocktail category for his creation ‘Guncotton Mark II’.

He also won a category winner’s medal and certificate, a Dublin Crystal vase and all travel with full board and expenses covered for the five days in Warsaw at the World Championships organised by the International Bartenders Association.

With nearly 60 entries received, the Edward Dillon & Co-sponsored competition was organised by Declan Byrne who acted as MC for the competition, assisted by a large team of BAI members.

Special Guest Judges included UK Bartenders Guild (UKBG) President Daniel Crebesse and UKBG National Administrator Jim Slavin along with national judges Irish Guild of Sommeliers’ Oliver Murtagh, BAI President Andrew O’Gorman, Ciara McCahey, Martin Meade and John Tynan.

The competition was divided into four categories: Pre-Dinner Cocktail, Long Drink, Fancy Cocktail and After Dinner cocktail. The best two cocktails, as decided by points awarded by the judges, entered into a head-to-head final with each category having one winner.

Lukasz Wojcik, FXB’s, Co Dublin (Long Drink) – Category Winner
