Starting from July 1 this year, Paddy Whiskey will be distributed in the Irish market by Hi-Spirits Ireland, a subsidiary of the USA-based Sazerac Company, which acquired Paddy in 2016. Currently handled by Irish Distillers, the two companies aim to work together to achieve a seamless transition for on-trade and off-trade stockists.

Along with this new acquisition, Hi-Spirits Ireland’s portfolio consists of a wide range of renowned premium spirits including Southern Comfort, Fernet Branca, Antica Sambuca and more.

Country manager George Roberts said Hi-Spirits Ireland is delighted to be adding Paddy to its portfolio of premium spirits brands.

“We know we have big shoes to fill,” he said. “I’m not just talking about the current dedicated team at Irish Distillers either, but the legendary salesman who became so associated with the whiskey that it was renamed after him!”

Paddy Whiskey’s heritage dates back to 1779, while it was renamed in 1913 in honour of company salesman Paddy Flaherty, who became so synonymous with the brand around Ireland that the manufacturers paid him the ultimate tribute by naming the brand after him.
