Beer sales volumes fell by 9% in the first four months of this year from January to April compared to the same period in 2012.

April was the worst month for the slump when beer volumes declined by 17% compared to April 2012 according to trade figures which indicate that volumes of bottled beer fell 16% in the first six months from January to June.

The worst month for bottled beer declines in H1 was also in April when sales volumes fell by 34% compared to April 2012.
Coors Light continues to top the 330ml bottled beer sales table in the on-trade, increasing by 0.7% in value to give the brand a 17.8% share according to brand share data to 25th July this year.

Corona sales rose 1.3% to provide the brand with a second place share of 13.6%.

Third placed Budweiser sales fell by 0.5% giving the brand a 13.3% share while Bulmers fell by 0.4% giving it a brand sales share of 11.9% with Heineken showing flat sales to retain fifth place with a share of 11.7%.

However Bulmers topped the on-trade bottled beer sales in general (330ml & other sizes) with a 34% share by value, down slightly (0.2%) while bottled Coors gained share (0.4%) to take 11.4%.

Corona too gained share (0.7%) for an 8.7% share followed by Budweiser (-0.4%) with 8.5% and Heineken with 7.5% (-0.1%).
