The new 50 cl bottles are to be rolled out to the off- and on-trade over the coming weeks.

O’Hara’s 7.5% ABV Double IPA first made an appearance on draught at the 2013 St Patrick’s Festival ‘Irish Craft Beer Village’ at George’s Dock, Dublin and the bottled release is in response to ongoing customer interest, stated the Carlow Brewing Company.

?IPA is a beer style that originated when it was discovered that beer with higher alcohol and higher hop rates in combination contribute natural preservative properties. IPA thus better survived the long journey by boat from England to India. Nowadays beers inspired by this style are prized for their intense flavour profiles. As the name suggests Double IPAs (also referred to as Imperial IPAs) are an even stronger, more hoppy variant of IPAs and typically have alcohol of 7.5% ABV or higher.

According to the Carlow Brewing Company O’Hara’s Double IPA is a full-bodied, full-on Double IPA combining caramel and malt flavours with a well-balanced and substantial bitterness topped-off by a tantalising hop aroma with notes of tangerine and grapefruit.  Light carbonation allows the full flavour of this beer to shine through.

?Established in 1996, the Carlow Brewing Company brews the award-winning Irish beer range: O’Hara’s Irish Stout, O’Hara’s Irish Red, Curim Gold, O’Hara’s Leann Folláin (Extra Irish Stout) and O’Hara’s Irish Pale Ale.  O’Hara’s is the first locally-brewed Double IPA to be launched on the Irish market.
