Sixty new jobs will be created with the opening of a new food-to-go franchise Nom Nom Subs, developed by Complete Cuisine.

A family run business with more than 40 years’ experience within the food industry, Complete Cuisine began the new franchise concept in 2011 and since then has invested more than €500,000 to date in developing the new venture.

Following the successful opening of its first store on Westland Row in Dublin, Nom Nom Subs now plans further store openings. It is estimated that Nom Nom Subs will create over 60 new jobs over the coming 18 month period as a result of 10 new store openings nationwide. Ten full-time jobs will be created directly with the opening of the first store with numerous part-time roles during the launch stage.

Subsequent to the significant investment made by Complete Cuisine into the new sub franchise, it will be the direct route to market for Nom Nom Subs offering a one stop shop to all franchisees. This franchise model allows retailers to offer a new menu to their customers and a point of differentiation for their hot food counters. This €500,000 investment figure includes the creation and development of the brand, market research including consumer and retailer focus group sessions, retail fit out, staff training, and food and menu development.

Unlike some competitors, Nom Nom Subs says its customers know the revenue from its sales remain in Ireland. There are over 14 food companies producing and supplying for Nom Nom Subs and all these companies are located in Ireland. The Nom Nom Subs concept began in March 2011 by Dermot Hanrahan, sales director of Complete Cuisine. He felt there was a gap in the market for a brand such as Nom Nom Subs and that it offers a strong opportunity for anyone interested in investing in a ready-made franchise.

"Typically in this industry the counters are very generic in terms of branding. We wanted to create a strong brand with a fun personality," said Hanrahan.

"With so many international brands coming to our shore we decided that in the current economic climate we wanted to develop a 100% Irish franchise which would contribute to the Irish economy to help in creating and sustaining employment."

In 1996 Complete Cuisine was the first to bring a value added food-to-go menu to the retail hot deli market. Nom Nom Subs offers gourmet-style hot submarine sandwiches available either in Nom Nom Subs restaurants or integrated into existing hot food/deli counters throughout Ireland. Some of the unique offerings available on the menu include the Hot Turkish Sub (Halal doner kebab meat with hot chilli ketchup), unique pizza sub, and special Nom Nom signatures including the Taco Roller. Nom Nom Subs also create bespoke sauces and use high quality meats in their products.

"Our experience within this sector taught us that we continuously needed to re-invent our menu to meet the needs of the retailer and consumer," added Hanrahan.
