This Japanese whisky, which saw European sales growth of 50 per cent in 2011, is now available in 28 countries throughout Europe.

“Based on the success Nikka is having in other European countries we’re very confident that these multi-award winning whiskies will appeal to premium whisky drinkers throughout the country,” commented Ronan Gillespie of Next Step International.
‘Nikka from the Barrel’ and ‘Nikka Taketsuru 21 Years-Old’ were both 2012 Gold Medal Winners at this year’s International Spirits Challenge.

Paul Maguire, Managing Director of Premier Beverage Brands here, added, “While the market for whiskey in Ireland is not surprisingly dominated by Irish whiskey, more and more whiskey drinkers are looking for alternatives. The range of Nikka and Yoichi Japanese whiskeys we’ve chosen for Ireland offers great variety, from easy-drinking whiskies like Nikka All Malt through the Taketsuru range of blended malts to more full-bodied whiskies like Nikka from the Barrel and Yoichi Single Malt 12 Years-Old”.

Japan is now the world’s fifth-largest volume producer of whisky after India, the US, Canada and Scotland. Nikka Whisky forms part of the Asahi drinks group in Japan.
