Aldi increases its presence in Cork City this week with the opening of a new store in Wilton, creating 20 new jobs. It is Aldi’s 19th store in Co. Cork and its seventh in the city, bringing the total number of Aldi stores in Ireland to 119. The grand opening was marked with free breakfasts and other tasty treats through the day, all using Aldi products, many of which are sourced from Irish suppliers. Five lucky shoppers were also gifted with €100 Aldi vouchers.

Speaking at the store’s opening, manager Richard Foskett said that buying “fresh, quality Irish foods in Wilton just got easier.”

Since 2008, Aldi has doubled the number of Irish suppliers it works with, helping to maintain 34,000 jobs across the Irish food industry. More than 50% of the company’s supplier spend is with Irish producers and manufacturers.
