Midleton wins SuperValu Off-Licence of Year

Tommy Grimes and Didier Segui of SuperValu Midleton emerged as the winners of the Super Valu Off-Licence of the Year Award 2010/2011 recently in The Grand Hotel, Malahide, County Dublin.

Award-sponsors Edward Dillon announced the 18th winner of the awards together with the runners-up which included Mary Quinlan, Brian Carrick and Luke Moriarty from SuperValu Balbriggan, as well as Padraig Doran and Dave Nolan from SuperValu in St Aidan’s, Wexford Town and Shane Kelly and Mark O’Shea from SuperValu Boyle. Each of the 20 finalist stores were judged by Carthage Conlon who marked them on a range of criteria including overall appearance, innovation and customer service.

The 20 finalists in this year’s competition were each rewarded with an invitation to attend the Bacardi Academie in Sitges, just outside Barcelona, in 2011. During the trip, the finalists will experience live guided tours by brand ambassadors for Bacardi. The Bacardi Academy will also offer visitors the experience of an educational session based on the creation process for Bacardi’s superior rum.

The winner and runners-up of the SuperValu Off-Licence of the Year Award will win a chance to visit the wine region of Australia where they will have the opportunity to visit the vineyards of Wolf Blass, Rosemount and Penfolds. During this trip, guests will experience first-hand innovative wine-making processes, meet with the winemakers, visit the vineyards and sample the latest vintages.
