Ireland’s food service sector has just gained a tasty new Irish option within the all-important lunchtime and evening meal markets.

McDonald’s Ireland today launched their new limited edition burger – the McMór. For the first time ever a McDonald’s burger will include two national favourites, Ballymaloe Relish and Charleville Cheddar Cheese, combining to give the McMór a truly authentic Irish taste. The McMór will be available in all 88 McDonald’s restaurants across Ireland from Wednesday, 2 September for a six week period only.

McDonald’s says the McMór burger is its tribute to the best produce and finest flavours from across Ireland. Nestled inside the potato-flaked bun is 100% Irish beef and bacon provided by Dawn Meats and Dew Valley respectively, layered with shredded cabbage and whole baby leaf kale, alongside Charleville Cheddar and Ballymaloe Relish.

The McMór was created by McDonald’s Ireland Chefs Council, which held its first meeting in May 2014, with the view to developing an authentic local burger with real Irish flavours at its heart. The Chefs Council is made up of Stephen Macken, Innovation chef at Kerry, Dermott Slade, head development chef, Dawn Meats and Steve Love, research chef at McCormick Flavour Group.

Speaking about the launch of the McMór, Roma O’Connor, marketing director, McDonald’s Restaurants of Ireland said the company was delighted to be “collaborating with great Irish producers” and that she is “confident customers will love the taste of the product”.
