Carnmore Service Station in Co. Galway has officially joined the Maxol family following its acquisition, strengthening the company’s presence in the west of Ireland.
The site, acquired from Geraldine and Liam Glynn, is located in Carnmore, just 9km east of Galway City.
Strategically positioned near the N18 and the M6 motorway, and in close proximity to Galway Airport.
Connectivity
The service station enjoys excellent connectivity blending the vibrancy of Galway city with the rural communities that surround it, and serving locals, commuters, and visitors alike.
This brings to six the number of Maxol service stations in Galway.
The site’s forecourt has been fully rebranded to Maxol and continues to provide dedicated facilities for both everyday motorists and HGV drivers, while the shop, which continues to operate under the Centra brand, offers a wide range of fresh food, convenience essentials, and quality services for customers on the go.
The store is operated by Licensee Padraic Delaney, who also runs Maxol’s company owned site in Westport and his own dealer site in Headford, under the Maxol brand.
Padraic, a well-known retailer from the Galway area, oversees the day-to-day operations at Carnmore, working alongside the existing team of 36 staff providing excellent service to the local community.
Padraic Delaney said: “I want to thank Liam and Geraldine for all their help in supporting a smooth transition and for making me feel so welcome.
“It’s a real privilege to be part of the Maxol family, a brand that has been at the heart of Irish communities for generations.
“I look forward to continuing the long tradition of Carnmore being at the heart of the community and in providing the highest of standards and service to our customers.
“We also have some exciting plans in the pipeline, the first of which will be the introduction of a state-of-the-art car wash facility.”
The acquisition forms part of The Maxol Group’s multi-million euro national investment programme for 2025, which includes the purchase of four sites – one in Galway and three in Dublin – as well as seven site upgrades, redevelopments, and sustainability improvements across the country.
Brian Donaldson, CEO of The Maxol Group, added: “This has been a very busy year for the company with acquisitions and redevelopments dominating our growth strategy.
“We remain hugely ambitious and Carnmore is a welcome addition to our expanding network.
“It is an excellent site with deeply embedded roots in the local community and an established reputation for providing a quality convenience offer to local and commuting customers.
“We wish Liam and Geraldine the very best for the future and look forward to working closely with Padraic and his fantastic team at Carnmore.”
