Gala’s Special Support for Special Olympics Area Games

Gala has teamed up with Special Olympics Ireland to sponsor the Special Olympics Ireland Area Games. With over 9,000 athletes eligible to take part in the Area Games, 90 different Area events featuring 13 different sports will take place over the course of 2016. To date, hundreds of Special Olympics athletes have been awarded for their skill and sportsmanship. The first step in the Olympics journey for Special Olympics’ athletes recently took place in Cork as they competed in the Special Olympics National Area Event for athletics at the Cork Institute of Technology.

Celebrity chef Rory O’Connell calls on Irish people to BBQ to Beat Cancer

With summer in full swing, celebrity chef Rory O’Connell recently launched the Marie Keating Foundation’s BBQ to Beat Cancer campaign, sponsored by Flogas. The Marie Keating Foundation is asking people nationwide to become a BBQ hero by hosting a fundraising BBQ in aid of its men’s cancer programmes and services. The partnership between legen-dairy brands Ben & Jerry’s and Deliveroo this June will bring bags of euphoria directly to the doorsteps and desks of ice cream lovers. If the trial is a sweet success, the ambition is to roll out a wider Delivermoo ice cream delivery partnership in the future. The trial period runs for eight weeks over the summer, allowing fans to order delicious ice cream treats on-demand from deliveroo.ie.

Boyne Brewhouse unveils debut range of three bottled craft beers

The Boyne Brewhouse, a new state of the art, family owned, craft brewery located in the heart of Drogheda, Co. Meath, has unveiled its debut range of bottled craft beers. The three beers, which are being produced using traditional craft brewing methods and local ingredients, are now available for purchase in a number of stores and locations nationwide. The range includes Born in a Day (Australian Pale Ale, 4.8%); Long Arm (Dortmunder Export, 4.8%) and Pagan’s Pillar (Sparking Copper Ale, 4.8%).
