Get ready for 12 Days of the XL Elf

The XL group is embracing the festive season with its 12 Days of Elf initiative. From Saturday, 1 December, the symbol group will run the 12 days of Elf consumer campaign, that aims to encourage footfall and provide retailers with fun and unique content for store social media pages. The campaign will be supported with content on the national XL Facebook page, with teasers posted all this coming week in the lead up to the campaign starting. The teasers will include a national competition based around looking for a name for Elf’s friend. The Elf will be getting up to mischief throughout the store, as well as highlighting special offers.

The Elf will also be featuring in the XL colouring competition that is currently running in participating stores until 10 December.

Gavin James kicks off Cadbury ‘Secret Santa’ movement

Cadbury wants to tap into people’s generous instinct this Christmas and create a movement of ‘giving, just because’– no matter how big or small the gesture. To kickstart the movement, the iconic chocolate brand has announced a Secret Santa Postal Service pop-up that will be setting up shop at 57 South William Street, Dublin 2 from Tuesday 4 – Saturday 8 December. Visitors to the Cadbury Secret Santa Postal Service can get involved by sending a Cadbury Dairy Milk gift to someone they love anywhere in Ireland, for free! In the spirit of Secret Santa they can keep it anonymous or choose to personalize it by including a handwritten note. Irish singer-songwriter Gavin James, has come on board as the Cadbury Secret Santa ambassador and will be kicking off the movement by posting the first Secret Santa gift in the purple Cadbury post box. Gorey teen wins Aldi’s National Junior Baking Competition

The winner of the fourth National Junior Baking Competition, sponsored by Aldi in association with Foróige and the National Ploughing Association is Ava Pierce (15) from Gorey, Co. Wexford. Ms. Pierce was awarded a €1,000 bursary fund for herself after impressing judges with her baking skills. The theme this year was Lemon Drizzle Cake, and Ava’s Lemon Drizzle Cake will also be stocked in all 135 Aldi stores nationwide. Ava is a member of Askamore Foróige Club and is in transition year in Gorey Community School. Well done Ava, surely one to wathc, a patissier of the future!

Specsavers wins big at Retail Excellence Awards

The Dawson Street outlet of Specsavers Opticians in Dublin has been awarded the title of National Optician of the Year at the recent Retail Excellence Awards 2019. Over 1,850 leading retail companies in the Irish market were considered as part of the Awards and with Specsavers Dawson Street having only opened in its new location in June of this year (having re-located from Grafton Street), it is a strong achievement for all involved.

73% of Irish SMEs plan to purchase corporate gifts this Christmas

Corporate gifting among Irish SMEs remains as popular as ever with 73% planning to purchase presents for their clients, according to new research by Musgrave MarketPlace. The study was carried out among 568 Irish SMEs as part of the group’s ‘Christmas Made’ campaign, which aims to make Christmas a hassle-free experience for SMEs with a range of gifting options available in-branch and online.
