This decision has proved a difficult one for both David and the LVA, according a letter to LVA members from LVA Chief Executive Donall O’Keeffe.

In order to protect the position of Chairman and the Association – and to preserve his independence to run his business as he sees fit – David, after careful consideration, took the decision to resign immediately, stated the letter.

David’s grandfather James was also an LVA Chairman as was James’ brother Edward.

David, who trained with Price Waterhouse as a Chartered Accountant, has worked in pubs since he was a child.
The LVA Council will meet to elect a new Chair early next month.
