Krispy Kreme, the doughnut company famed for its Original Glazed recipe, has officially opened its doors at the Blanchardstown Centre. Hundreds of eager customers were waiting for the 7am opening of the new store, with the first hundred customers recieving a complimentary “Hot Original Glazed” straight from the kitchen.

At 7am sharp, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Cllr. Ted Leddy, representing the Mayor of Fingal, along with Krispy Kreme CEO Richard Cheshire and Ireland Country Director Alex Drysdale.

The new Krispy Kreme Theatre store is one of the brand’s biggest outlets in Europe and features an elaborate front-of-house area including Krispy Creations, a custom doughnut creation station, capacity to seat 77 in-store and a 24-hour drive-through.

Krispy Kreme produces no fewer than 16 varieties fresh in store, including the signature Original Glazed (OG) recipe. Doughnut-spotters can know from a distance when a batch is in production, because the store’s famous Hotlight sign illuminates red. Kreme Shakes, tea, coffee and other refreshments will also be available in-store and to take away, 7 days of the week.

Alex Drysdale, Ireland country director, Krispy Kreme, said that he and the team are overjoyed that so many people came to share the opening day excitement. “On day one alone, we have welcomed families, couples, friends and local workers,” he said, “stocking up on doughnuts for the office. We really want to thank all those who joined us today and sent in their good luck wishes.

Drysdale added special gratitude to the staff, the local authorityand the store’s neighbours in the Blanchardstown Centre, who wished well to the new store.
